Polyester Cord Strapping Helping To Hold With Tight Grip

Posted Date: 17 Jun, 2021

Strapping

Strapping is also known as banding or bonding. This process involves a strap being applied to an item with the purpose of stabilizing, combining, holding, fastening or reinforcing it. A strap is an elongated ribbon or flap, generally made of different flexible materials. The concept of strapping is very commonly used in the industry of packing and packaging.

Corded and Woven Straps

The woven and corded strappings are available in different types of constructions that primarily involves rayon and polyester. These types of strappings are reusable. These strappings use steel  buckles for joints and therefore, these corded and woven strappings can bear a strength equal to or more than that of straps made of steel. The higher elongation available in the cord strappings makes this ideal for rail and sea shipments.

As the replacement for the steel strappings, the cord strap has established itself as an effective option. With the characteristics of the durability of heavy duty woven strapping or the rigidity of the composite strapping, more than one hazards faced due to the steel strappings have been eliminated. Whereas, the cord strappings, with their flexible and soft texture, protects most of the sensitive products.

The cord strappings are virtually safe to use on any kind of surfaces. This material does not corrode, collect rust or put a strain on any products. Also, these strappings do not damage the forklift tires. The polyester cord straps consist of smooth edges and are also non-abrasive, which makes these straps ideal for every kind of handheld applications. The cord strappings can even be tied by hands.

The cord strappings are supported  with inexpensive strapping tools. Avoiding the use of costly strapping tools further eliminates the event of repairing these tools. Also, the polyester cord straps are much more lighter than the steel strappings that allows even more flexibility and ease in using these straps. The polyester straps are capable of absorbing shocks much better than the steel straps, without losing the tension if the load applied to expand or contracts.

Considering all these factors, the polyester cord straps are quite popular for a number of applications. In addition to all the above points, these cord straps highly resistant to moisture. Therefore, these are very much used in lumber applications, outdoor applications and boating and agricultural industries.

Features of Woven Cords

• Minimal tooling is required to fix woven cords.

• The woven cords also feature high tenacity.

• The woven cords are a much safer way for securing the contents of the product for  distribution.

• The woven cords are manufactured to replace  the steel strappings.

Features of Composite Cords

Manufactured from co-extruded high tenacity polyester yarns, composite strappings are embedded in a polymer coating. This strapping is quite flexible for being used in different applications of packaging. The superior properties of these cord strappings, allow them to be  used with  heavy loads and in difficult situations. Its features can be summed up as follows -

• It possesses exceptionally high strength.

• It provides a good example for absorbing shock and protecting the package.

• These cord straps retain high tension.

• These cord straps also possess elasticity and flexibility.

• These straps do not bear sharp edges.

• The composite cords are highly resistant to the  weather.

• Working with these cord straps does not incur much cost.

• These straps are not heavy.

• The composite cords are resistant to rusts as well.

Different Types of Cord Strapping

Bonded Cord Strapping: These cord strappings are non woven. These straps are widely used for bundling and securing products. Other applications of using bonded cord strappings include industries of printing, landscaping, automotive and the bailing industry.

Woven Cord Strapping: The woven cord strappings adds strength in a dual direction and thus split the resistance needed to the heavier applications. This option of cord straps is ideal for bundling loads of medium to heavy size. These strappings are also cost-effective.

The woven cord strappings are also available in the forms of heavy duty cord strappings for bundling heavy loads. This application is often found within the plastic and metal industries and also for securing the rail carloads. The woven polyester cord strapping manufacturers face a huge demand as these products come with a bundle of advantages such as strength, disposability, safety and of course the cost.

Composite Cord Strapping: The composite cord strappings are made of polyester yarns and are coated with clear polypropylene. This plastic coating provides additional protection of water resistance and along with it, an improved long lasting life to these cords. Thus it is ideal for being used with loads that require the strapping to be threaded through metal buckles and under the pallets.

Types of Buckles for Cord Strapping

Phosphated Buckles: Buckles coated with phosphate are used with all the bonded and woven cord. The coating of phosphate helps to improve the properties of friction of the components that have a sliding tendency. As a result, the overall strength of the load and the joint strength is increased.

Galvanized Buckles: The buckles implemented with a silver-grey coating of zinc adds a layer of extra protection that does not collect rust and also prevents the steel from rusting.

Steps for Threading Metal Buckles for Cord Strapping

1. A three inch loop is to be formed by folding the strap. The loop should be passed through the centre of the buckle, with the buckle tine facing to the right.

2. The loop needs to be slipped over the front tine as far as possible.

3. Then the strap should be pulled down and away.

4. The strap should be placed around the package and then a new loop is formed by folding the strap towards the working person.

5. The new loop needs to be slipped over the other tine.

6. The strap from the coil needs to be pulled providing tension.

Trade and Commerce

There are many companies that manufacture and distributes woven polyester cord strapping and lashings all over the world. These companies provide heavy-duty strap which is not only economical but also an ideal option for carton closing, palletizing, bundling and tie-downs. These companies manufacture the products maintaining international standards and using premium quality raw materials. These manufacturing houses offer these products at a competitive price.

The woven polyester cord strapping and lashings manufacturers claim their products bear good tension on the rigid loads, resistance from rust and do not cause any kind of damage. These woven super strappings are also resistant to high temperature, ultraviolet rays and moisture.
